Jody Beck is an Innovation & Productivity Engineer with the Alabama Productivity Center, part of the Culverhouse College of Commerce at The University of Alabama. In that role, Jody works with business and industry to provide innovative, sustainable solutions to increase productivity and profit. Jody is a 2006 graduate of The University of Alabama with a B.S. After graduating, he accepted an Outside Sales Engineer position for Delta Process Equipment, where he worked to develop a customer base in a new territory for Delta Process Equipment, Inc. in Central and Northern Alabama. He worked with contractors, engineers, and end-users to develop water and wastewater systems to meet the specific needs of each project. Then in 2008, Jody joined Whitaker and Rawson, Inc., an HVAC & plumbing consulting firm, where he worked as a Project Engineer. At Whitaker and Rawson, Jody designed HVAC systems for projects including the New Parker High School, St. Vincent’s St. Clair Hospital, Bryant Denny Stadium Command Center, East Limestone High School Gym, and many others.

In 2011, Jody joined Southern Heat Exchanger Corp. as a Design Engineer and later worked as a Sales/Design Engineer. During his tenure at Southern Heat Exchanger he worked with clients ranging from DOW Chemical, Dupont, BP, Chemours, and many others to design custom heat exchangers to meet the clients’ needs. At this time, he was also becoming involved with Lean Manufacturing where he worked on various projects including streamlining the information sharing by instituting a cloud based filing system to catalog “tribal knowledge” standards and project information, the use of a new weld map, among others.

In my spare time, I enjoy working on cars and Alabama Football. Also, my wife is an Instructor in the Aerospace Engineering Department of The University of Alabama. Roll Tide!
