Tom Morgan is a 1979 graduate of Auburn University with a BS Degree in Chemical Engineering. While at Auburn, he co-oped with Champion Papers (now International Paper) in Courtland, Alabama.
Upon graduation, Tom accepted a Process Engineering position with PPG Industries in Lake Charles, LA. While at PPG, he held several production management positions within the company's Chlorine / Caustic division. In 1991, Tom joined Morton International in Moss Point, Mississippi as Project Manager over a multi-million dollar expansion of the company's polysulfide production facilities. In 1996, after five years as the site's Production Superintendent, he was transferred into technical sales for Morton International's Polysulfide-Based Coatings and Sealants. In 2000, Tom joined YS, Inc. in Collinsville, Alabama, where he served as the company's Quality Manager and as a Process Supervisor.
Before joining the Alabama Productivity Center as Manufacturing Outreach Coordinator in 2003, he spent two years as a crane inspector for Crane Inspection Services in Fairhope, AL. In 2011, he became the plant manager for GEO Specialty Chemicals in Childersburg, Alabama. Tom rejoined the Center in 2013 as Productivity Engineer. He remains heavily involved in various continuous improvement activities, including training and implementation, as well as assisting with the center’s student internship program
